PRACTICE / Diode rectification

Average the rectified waveform

An ideal full-wave bridge rectifier applies the absolute value of a 10 V peak sinusoidal voltage to a 100 Ω resistor. No smoothing capacitor is fitted.

Find the time-averaged load current.

Organize the givens & assumptions
  • Input peak Vp = 10 V
  • Load R = 100 Ω
  • Full-wave unsmoothed output

Ideal zero-drop diodes, resistive load, steady sinusoidal input and no energy-storage filter.
